The overview and perspectives of biosensors and Mycobacterium tuberculosis: A systematic review
Tuberculosis (TB) is referred to as a “consumption” or phthisis, which has been a fatal human disease for thousands of years. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tb) might have been responsible for the death of more humans than any other bacterial pathogens. The present study aimed to review the articles published regarding the progress in the biosensory technologies used for human TB, with an emphasis on the recognition of various signal transducer methods and their potential for clinical rendition....

Th17 and Treg cells function in SARS‐CoV2 patients compared with healthy controls
The current study aimed to evaluate the responses of Th17 and Treg cells in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) patients compared with the control group. The findings showed the enhanced responses of Th17 cells and decreased responses of Treg cells in 2019‐n‐CoV patients compared with controls and the high ratio of Th17/Treg cells and their associated factors in COVID‐19‐dead patients compared with the improved cases, which suggest the critical role of inflammation in disease progression and the...

A new standardized immunofluorescence method for potency quantification (SMPQ) of human conjunctival cell cultures
Abstract The aim of this study is to set up a standardized and reproducible method to determine the potency (= stem cell content) of human conjunctival cell cultures by means of immunofluorescence-based analyses. This will help the development of new Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) to use in future cell therapy clinical studies when fewer cells are available to perform the quality controls. To achieve this purpose, a reference standard was investigated and the expression...

Effect of vitrification on biogenesis pathway and expression of development-related microRNAs in preimplantation mouse embryos
Abstract Vitrification of embryos has been known as the most efficient cryopreservation method in assisted reproductive technology clinics. Vitrification of preimplantation embryo might be associated with altered gene expression profile and biochemical changes of vitrified embryos. Stringent regulation of gene expression in early embryonic stages is very critical for normal development. In the present study, we investigated the effect of vitrification on the canonical miRNA biogenesis...

The regulation of dermal mesenchymal stem cells on keratinocytes apoptosis
Abstract Dermal mesenchymal stem cells (DMSCs) are progenitor cells with the capacity of self-renewal, multilineage differentiation, and immunomodulation, which were reported to induce the proliferation of keratinocytes, however the regulation on keratinocytes apoptosis was unknown. In this study, we isolated DMSCs from normal skin and co-cultured with keratinocytes, and then detected apoptosis of keratinocytes by flow cytometry and expression of apoptosis associated proteins by...

Nontraditional systems in aging research: an update
Abstract Research on the evolutionary and mechanistic aspects of aging and longevity has a reductionist nature, as the majority of knowledge originates from experiments on a relatively small number of systems and species. Role of serine 365 in BRAF V600E sensitivity to RAF inhibition
Abstract The serine‐threonine kinase, BRAF, is an upstream regulator of the MEK‐ERK1/2 pathway and is commonly mutated in cancer. 14‐3‐3 proteins bind to two sites in BRAF, N‐terminal S365 and C‐terminal S729. 14‐3‐3 binding modulates the activity and dimerization of both wild‐type and non‐V600 mutant forms of BRAF. In BRAF V600E mutants, the C‐terminal S729 site affects dimerization of truncated splice variants. The N‐terminal, S365, is removed in BRAF V600E splice variants but its importance in...
