Building a continuous renal replacement therapy program in a community hospital
imageAbstract: Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is a high-risk therapy used to treat acute kidney injury. Community hospitals lack the patient volume to adequately develop staff CRRT competency. This article will cover lessons learned developing a CRRT program at a small community hospital with low patient census requiring CRRT.
Minimal change disease: A case report
imageAbstract: Although minimal change disease (MCD) is a major cause of nephrotic syndrome in children, it is less common in adults. It develops from damage to the glomeruli with a loss of large amounts of protein in the urine. Early recognition and treatment is key to a positive patient outcome. This article describes the diagnosis, treatment, and nursing care of an adult with MCD.
