Are You at High Risk for Serious Illness from Flu? ​You or someone in your family may be at a high risk for developing serious flu complications. Flu vaccination is especially important for young children, older people, pregnant women and people with certain chronic health conditions because for people at high risk, getting sick with flu can result in severe illness with complications, hospitalization and sometimes death. 	HCPs - Continue Making a Strong Recommendation for Flu Vaccine! As long as flu viruses are circulating, vaccination should continue throughout flu season. Follow up with each patient during subsequent appointments to ensure the patient received a flu vaccine.
