We describe the synthesis and characterization of [Cu(POP)( 1 )][PF6], [Cu(POP)( 2 )][PF6], [Cu(xantphos)( 1 )][PF6], and [Cu(xantphos)( 2 )][PF6] in which ligands 1 and 2 are 2-(pyridin-2-yl)quinoline and 2-(6-methylpyridin-2-yl)quinoline, respectively. With 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) as a benchmark, we assess the impact of the extended π-system on structural and solid-state photophysical properties. The single crystal structures of [Cu(POP)( 2 )][PF6], [Cu(xantphos)( 1 )][PF6], and [Cu(xantphos)( 2...
The syntheses of 4,40 -bis(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-6,60 -dimethyl-2,20 -bipyridine (1 ), 4,40 -bis(4-dimethylaminophenylethynyl)-6,60 -dimethyl-2,20 -bipyridine (2 ), 4,40 -bis(4- diphenylaminophenyl)-6,60 -dimethyl-2,20 -bipyridine (3 ), and 4,40 -bis(4-diphenylaminophenylethynyl)- 6,60 -dimethyl-2,20 -bipyridine (4 ) are reported along with the preparations and characterisations of their homoleptic copper(I) complexes [CuL2 ][PF6 ] (L = 1 -4 ). The solution absorption spectra of the complexes exhibit...

ObjectiveTo determine the impact to date of the ongoing Crohn’s & Colitis UK inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) clinical nurse specialists (CNS) campaign.MethodsA survey-based design was used. 2 questionnaires were sent to the UK IBD nursing community and promoted via nursing and clinical networks. Respondents were asked to provide data at both an individual and trust level about their nursing services.Results394 IBD CNS posts were identified across the UK, with a 32% increase in posts since the...

AbstractThe outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread rapidly in China. Until now, no definite effective treatment has been identified. We reported on 3 patients with severe COVID-19 who received high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) with satisfactory recovery. Based on these observations, randomized studies of high-dose IVIg should be considered in deteriorating patients infected with COVID-19.
AbstractBackgroundState-mandated school entry immunization requirements in the United States play an important role in achieving high vaccine coverage, but variations in vaccine exemption policies result in a patchwork of vaccine coverage across the country.MethodsIn this study, we evaluate epidemiological effects and spatial variations in nonmedical exemption (NME) rates in the context of vaccine policies. We first analyze the correlation between NME rates and vaccine coverage for 3 significant...

Abstract Next generation sequencing technologies have made it possible to investigate the role of rare variants (RVs) in disease etiology. Because RVs associated with disease susceptibility tend to be enriched in families with affected individuals, study designs based on affected sib pairs (ASP) can be more powerful than case–control studies. We construct tests of RV‐set association in ASPs for single genomic regions as well as for multiple regions. Single‐region tests can efficiently detect a...

Abstract Increasing evidence suggests that DNA methylation has key roles in the replication of retroviruses, including lentiviruses, and pathogenesis of diseases. However, the precise characteristics of CpG islands are not known for many retroviruses. In this study, we compared the distribution of CpG islands among strains of equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV), a lentivirus in the family Retroviridae and a model for HIV research. We identified CpG islands in 32 full-length EIAV...
