Piplartine attenuates the proliferation of hepatocellular carcinoma cells via regulating hsa_circ_100338 expression
Hsa_circ_100338 was upregulated in piplartine treated hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Dual luciferase reporter gene assay and RIP assay showed that circ‐100338 can regulate ZEB1 expression by competitively bind to miR‐141‐3p. Abstract Researches have pointed that piplartine inhibits the proliferation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells, however, the underlying mechanisms has not been well defined. Currently, more and more studies have pointed out that circRNAs can regulate tumor cell proliferation,...

Can we improve the detection rate of prostate cancer using standard 12‐core TRUS‐guided prostate biopsy? Focused on the location of prostate biopsy
More in‐depth discussions on the location of standard 12‐core prostate biopsy are considered necessary. Apical core and lateral core biopsies may be helpful, especially in patients with prostate‐specific antigen levels ˂10 ng/mL if additional biopsies are planned following findings of no target lesions on imaging studies. Abstract Background We assessed the effect of biopsy location on the prostate cancer detection and clinically significant prostate cancer. Methods A total of 2774 patients...

The lncRNA SNHG5‐mediated miR‐205‐5p downregulation contributes to the progression of clear cell renal cell carcinoma by targeting ZEB1
SNHG5 was found to be highly expressed in ccRCC tissues and cell lines and was intimately associated with TNM stage, lymphatic invasion, and metastasis in patients with ccRCC. Overexpression of SNHG5 facilitates ccRCC progression, whereas knockdown of SNHG5 exerts the opposite effect. SNHG5 acts as a ceRNA to sponge miR‐205‐5p and alleviates the inhibition of miR‐205‐5p on its target ZEB1 in ccRCC. ABSTRACT Recent findings have unraveled the critical functions of the long noncoding RNA (lncRNA)...

Improving survival of 3760 patients with lymphoma: Experience of an academic center over two decades
Increase in overall survival of lymphoma from 1996 to 2015. Abstract Background The treatment outcomes and prognosis of lymphoma are affected by various factors such as hospital types. This study was to describe the temporal trend in the survival of lymphoma in an academic center in China. Methods A total of 3840 consecutive patients with lymphoma diagnosed between 1996 and 2015 were reviewed. Eighty patients were excluded, and finally, 3760 patients were analyzed in this study. The cohort...

Liver cirrhosis contributes to the disorder of gut microbiota in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma
Our results suggest that butyrate‐producing genera were decreased, while LPS‐producing genera were increased in LC‐HCC patients. We demonstrated that gut microbial dysbiosis in patients with HCC is associated with LC but not HBV, HCV, or ALD. We also found that four biomarkers could be used for the precise diagnosis of HCC. This study opens an avenue to the development of novel probiotics, which might help combat the aggravation of liver diseases. Furthermore, further studies of gut microbial dysbiosis...

HOXD9 promote epithelial‐mesenchymal transition and metastasis in colorectal carcinoma
HOXD9 is overexpressed in CRC and increases tumorigenicity and tumor proliferation. Also, ectopic HOXD9 expression influences EMT and tumor spread both in vivo and in vitro. Therefore, the HOXD9 gene could act as an assuring therapeutic approach for treating patients suffering from CRC. Abstract Background HOXD9, a Hox family member, is involved in cancer growth and metastasis. But, its regulation mechanism at the molecular level particularly in colorectal cancer (CRC), is mostly unknown. ...

The value of renal score in both determining surgical strategies and predicting complications for renal cell carcinoma: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
The predictive value of renal score is unclear. We retrieved all studies on renal score and performed a meta‐analysis of surgical strategies and postoperative complications. The results show that renal score is an objective and effective tool for predicting surgical strategies and complications after PN.  Abstract Objectives Radical nephrectomy (RN) was the standard treatment for renal cell carcinoma (RCC). However, recent studies have found that partial nephrectomy (PN) could achieve similar...

Usefulness of 18F‐fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography for predicting the prognosis and treatment response of neoadjuvant therapy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma
18F‐fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) was more accurate in determining the therapeutic effects of neoadjuvant therapy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma than CT, which detects anatomical changes. The reduction rate of the PET/CT parameter was an independent prognostic factor for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Abstract Background The Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) for computed tomography (CT) is preoperatively used to evaluate...
