Immunotherapy for pancreatic cancer: A 2020 update
Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAC) is the seventh leading cause of cancer-related death in both sexes, causing more than 331,000 deaths per year globally [1]. An estimation of 174,650 new cases was expected to be diagnosed in the USA with 45,750 deaths expected to occur in 2019 [2]. PAC is associated with an extremely poor prognosis reaching a 5-year overall survival (OS) rate below 5% [3] and 1-year OS rate at 24% based on standard treatments [4]. Even for patients with resectable disease, the prognosis...

Interaction effect of obesity and thyroid autoimmunity on the prevalence of hyperthyrotropinaemia
Abstract Purpose The role of thyroid autoimmunity in the association between obesity and hyperthyrotropinaemia remains unclear. We aimed to assess the relationship between obesity, autoimmunity, and hyperthyrotropinaemia. Methods In this population-based cross-sectional study, 12531 Chinese individuals (18–80 years) with thyroid function test were...

Optimum imaging of chronic pancreatitis
Abstract Chronic pancreatitis is an inflammatory process of the pancreas characterized by progressive parenchyma destruction, resulting in pain and exocrine and endocrine insufficiency. In the advanced stages the diagnosis by imaging is usually straightforward, while in the early phases of the disease there can be a paucity of findings at imaging, thus making an early diagnosis challenging. Different imaging modalities can have a role in the initial diagnosis and in the longitudinal...

Pelvic floor imaging with MR defecography: correlation with gynecologic pelvic organ prolapse quantification
Abstract Purpose Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is assessed differently by gynecologists and radiologists. It is clinically staged by physical examination using the POP-Q (Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification) system and radiologically staged by modalities such as by Magnetic Resonance Defecography (MRD). The purpose of this study was to correlate the two methods of staging pelvic organ prolapse for each pelvic compartment by comparing correlative...

Implementation and design of artificial intelligence in abdominal imaging
Abstract Artificial intelligence is a technique that holds promise for helping radiologists improve the care of our patients. At the same time, implementation decisions we make now can have a long-lasting effect on patient outcomes. In the following article, we discuss four areas with unique considerations for implementation of AI: bias, trust, risk, and design. In each section, we highlight applications of AI to abdominal imaging and prostate cancer specifically.
