A record-high level of food incidents and recalls have been recorded in Australia, according to the annual report of Food Standards Australia New Zealand. The food safety team at Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) coordinated 106 incidents and recalls from July 2018 to June 2019, which was the highest number of recalls in a 12 month period. This year isn’t likely to top 2018’s record for food borne illness outbreak investigations
Records kept by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show 2019 is winding down with fewer multistate outbreaks of foodborne disease than last year.  Of course, two months remain before 2019 will be over.
